I'd been taping the shorts off AntennaTV, and now they're taking them off the schedule. Over the years, I've acquired 189/190, but because of a mishap with my DVD Recorder, I'm still missing Malice In The Palace. Yes, you read that correctly - Malice In The Palace.

If anyone has it recorded onto DVD (preferably in 1-hour record mode) and would be willing to help me out, let me know. I have plenty we could trade, or I could just pay you.

General Discussion / Christmas theme/references in Stooge shorts?
« on: November 17, 2015, 11:21:31 PM »
Obviously the Stooges were Jewish, but since I can already feel the holiday spirit, it got me thinking. Which shorts do you think are the most appropriate to watch around Christmas time? We've got Moe, Larry and Curly dressed up as Santa in 'Wee Wee Monsieur', with Shemp in 'Malice In The Palace'/'Rumpus In The Harem', and a strong Christmas theme in 'He Cooked His Goose' and 'Triple Crossed'.

Anyone else care to join in?

General Discussion / Greatest Comedy Trios In Film History....
« on: May 14, 2015, 02:23:35 AM »

Well, Moe Larry and Curly were mentioned, but they failed to realize that there were other 'Third Stooges' besides Curly. Thoughts on this list?

Looks like we're getting another Stooge movie from the Farrelly Brothers:

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I enjoyed the first movie. However, I think a sequel seems like overkill....

Your thoughts?

Swap Meet / Stooge-A-Palooza episodes
« on: May 06, 2015, 02:38:48 AM »
Out of curiosity, would anybody happen to have any full episodes of Stooge-A-Palooza? Rich Koz hosted a 2-hour block featuring 5 shorts, and all 190 were shown. It's been off the air for a couple years now, and I'd love to see them again.

Some episodes I'm looking for include:
All-Time Stooge Favorites
Give 'Em The Business
Stooge World Of Sports
Censored Stooges
Good Stooge/Bad Stooge

These are just a few suggestions, though. I'd really appreciate any episode I could get my hands on...
I'm sure we can work out a trade. Thanks!

*My list would be:

Self-Made Maids
Goof On The Roof

Who Done It?
Three Dark Horses
Listen Judge
The Tooth Will Out
Dopey Dicks

*Not really in any particular order, aside from Self-Made Maids.

General Discussion / How are you celebrating Pi (or PIE) Day?
« on: March 14, 2015, 01:45:28 AM »
For myself, I will be having a Stooge pie-flinging marathon with:

Slippery Silks
Three Sappy People
In The Sweet Pie And Pie
Half-Wit's Holiday
Pest Man Wins
Scheming Schemers
Pies And Guys

Although, technically, cream puffs were thrown in Slippery Silks and Three Sappy People....but I won't be too picky.

I will not, however, be participating in any pie fighting of my own in any way, shape or form. Maybe next year......

This new nine hour collectible DVD set packed with never-seen-before footage and photos of The Three Stooges performing and from their private lives celebrates a century of comedy from the greatest comedy team of all time.

The DVD collectible set will be available at Target stores in early May.

The mini-series goes behind the curtain and tells the backstory of all the members of The Three Stooges covering a hundred years from the perspective of narrator Paul Howard, Moe’s son. Besides the rare footage and photos, there are interviews from family members, friends and some of today’s most popular celebrities.

The families of The Three Stooges also provided many candid photos along with the footage plus very rare and one-of-a-kind memorabilia pieces that are reproduced and included in the DVD

I remember hearing about this awhile ago - I'll be picking it up. How about the rest of you?

I was in the mood for some Pac-Man, only to find no listing for the Arcade. Am I missing something, or has it been taken off?

General Discussion / Summer Movies 2014 (and beyond)
« on: June 29, 2014, 03:37:40 AM »
I was a little late on this one, but seeing Giff me dat fill-em's X-Men thread in the Nitpicker's Corner gave me this idea. What summer blockbusters have you seen, and which are your most anticipated of those to come?

I'm a bit of a Marvel fanboy, so I've seen Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as X-Men Days Of Future Past and, although it was a month before the 'official' start of Summer movie season, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I enjoyed Cap and X-men, Spider-Man was so-so.

I'm also excited to see 'Edge Of Tomorrow' and 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'. And if I'm feeling generous, I might even give the new 'Transformers' a chance.

Sound off, and keep in mind, this isn't just necessarily limited to only 'summer' movies. What else peaks your interest in the future?

Have fun!

It's a week late, but the season's still young - who wants to talk baseball?

Who's your team? I'll admit I am a Brewers fan, so cue the Ryan Braun/steroids jokes.

With that being said, have fun...and, yes...PLAY BALL! (Sorry, couldn't resist ;D)

General Discussion / Interesting article on Joe Besser
« on: March 12, 2014, 09:26:48 PM »
I'm a little late in posting this (it's from 2012) but I found it quite interesting.

Do you think we've been too hard on Joe Besser?

Did Moe and Larry share the same admiration that Joe felt for them?

Stooges DVD/VHS/Home Video / Columbia VHS Tapes
« on: March 12, 2014, 09:20:56 PM »
This may sound like an odd question, especially with the ultimate DVD sets out, but I'm curious.

I've been going through my old VHS tapes and transferring them all onto disc. I've come across quite a few Stooge tapes, such as 'An Ache In Every Stake', 'A Bird In The Head', and 'Fuelin' Around'.

While paging through the Videography section, I noticed that most of them are re-issues of earlier volumes that were put out from 1982-1990.

My question is, while they all have the same shorts, is it actually the same tape? For instance, are the shorts in the same order? Do they use the same prints?

Not sure if anyone else still uses VHS tapes, but I just have WAAAAAY too much time on my hands ;)

General Discussion / What are your picks for the best movies of 2013?
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:59:55 AM »
I know this is kind of off topic, but I couldn't resist getting your opinions.

Which were your favorite films from the past year? And also, what are you most looking forward to in 2014?

General Discussion / Are the Stooges still relevant in Pop Culture?
« on: September 06, 2013, 09:44:57 PM »
Let me start off by saying that the Stooges will always hold a special place in my heart.

However, do you feel they are still popular in this day and age amongst the general population?

General Discussion / 2013 NFL Thread
« on: September 04, 2013, 01:27:28 AM »
Saw the thread for MLB, and couldn't resist posting this one.

With the regular season starting on Thursday, who do you see as the best teams around the league? Who do you view as overrated/underrated?

And of course, who do you root for? (I'll admit, I'm a die-hard Cheesehead!)

General Discussion / Stooge Reading Material
« on: July 26, 2013, 09:42:31 PM »
I've just ordered my copy of 'I Stooge To Conquer', and I've already got 'One Fine Stooge', 'Three Stooges Scrapbook', 'The Three Stooges Encyclopedia', 'The Complete Three Stooges', etc.

Years ago, I had checked out ' Curly: The Illustrated Biography Of The Superstooge' and 'Moe Howard And The Three Stooges' from the library. I've never been able to track down 'A Stroke Of Luck', and I've never seen Joe Besser's biography either.

What other Stooge books would you guys recommend? Did Shemp or Curly Joe ever have biographies?

General Discussion / 12 Greatest Comedy Trios?
« on: July 02, 2013, 02:08:47 AM »
Looks like I'm a little late with this, as it was posted before "The Hangover Part III" was released.
However, I stumbled upon the article tonight and couldn't resist sharing it here -

Looks like our favorite numbskulls are nowhere to be found.
What are your thoughts on these - and modern comedy in general.

I will say, I LOVE Three Amigos.

Swap Meet / 4 MGM Shorts
« on: June 26, 2013, 06:41:25 AM »
I rented the 'Early Years' DVD many years ago, but can't find it anymore. Seeing all the info on 'Hello Pop' has made me anxious to watch these again. Plus, I'd really like to see the complete version of 'Nertsery Rhymes' in color.

Anyone willing to trade?

Swap Meet / Anybody still have the Columbia VHS tapes?
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:46:39 PM »
This may sound like a dumb question now that all the boxed sets are out, but has anyone hung onto the VHS tapes with the shorts on them?

I thought I had most of them (which I'm now transferring to DVD) but it looks like I'm missing a few.

Would anybody happen to have:

Woman Haters
Healthy, Wealthy And Dumb
Cash And Carry
Out West
Whoops, I'm An Indian
Shivering Sherlocks?

I have a lot to trade. Thanks for any help!
