  • Yeah, you read that right.  Here's an article from Blabbermouth about it, apparently it's going to cover Groucho's last years.

  • Gilbert Gottfried was born to play the old Groucho.  Call his agent immediately!

  • Already looking forward to this.  Strange seeing Rob Zombie's name attached to this project, but the combination of Groucho + Zombie should make it interesting.

Despite being a huge Groucho fan, I somehow missed the RAISED EYEBROWS book the biopic will be based on (bought myself a copy yesterday).

Gottfried's Cavett-era Groucho impressions always kill me (here's another one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYDYyYZw8jw).  I've been catching up on Gottfried's Amazing Colossal podcast recently, after discovering it a couple months ago.  His focus is on old moves and TV, obscure actors and comedians, etc., so a lot of people on this forum would probably enjoy it (the Stooges are brought up about every other episode).  It's probably the only podcast where you'd get a running joke based on Groucho's repeated assertions in later interviews that he only agreed to do the last few Marx Brothers movies because Chico needed the money (the kind of joke that tickles us Marx Brothers nerds who've seen him make this statement in countless interviews).

  • Raised Eyebrows is one of my favorite books of all-time... just an endlessly fascinating account of Groucho's final years. I'm looking forward to the movie.

  • Finally read RAISED EYEBROWS recently, fascinating read.  Stolier did a fine job of making the reader feel like a member of Groucho's household during his last years.  Can't wait to see how Zombie conveys it on the screen.  The Flemming Factor gives him a lot of wild material to work with.
