sooo after this round we ll have 5 left? I think the bottom 8 shoulda been taken out that way wed have a nice even 32 short tournament...but we all know the Music Box/Helpmates winner is gonna take it all anyway. Im rooting for Helpmates...love that short

Toughest for me was BUDY BODIES vs BLOTTO, but BLOTTO has one of the funniest scenes in any LH talkie.

While it's true there are some Laurel and Hardy shorts which are more popular than others, there's not quite Besser shorts and Shemp remakes in their Roach 40 either, so I think having all 40 is justified even if we have to have a final five.

But hey, the winner of that final five will really have to earn it, because we're all going to rank them in order and base it on a points system.  I'm looking forward to the finals.

Yeah, count me as one of the ones who loves HELPMATES arguably the best, but THEM THAR HILLS and TIT FOR TAT are also favorites of mine, and though it's eliminated, I'm a big BELOW ZERO fan as well, it's the bass player in me.  If I had to make a prediction, I say THE MUSIC BOX wins, and that's a great short too, but we shall see.

THE MUSIC BOX
HELPMATES
HOG WILD
TOWED IN A HOLE
BLOTTO

I'm pulling for HOG WILD personally, though TOWED IN A HOLE wouldn't disappoint me coming in 1st either...as for HELPMATES, it's more sublime than the 2 mentioned above. I think the weighting in the earlier rounds was pretty fair, no complaints. Yeah, there are "lesser" L&H shorts but as someone once said, lesser L&H is still better than first rate almost anyone else. Anyway the 3-way face off between BUSY BODIES, THEM THAR HILLS & BLOTTO is gonna get interesting. Now if THEM THAR HILLS had had Anita Garvin as originally intended and not Mae Busch that would have been enough to sway me, but I just have to give Anita the props in BLOTTO. Maybe it's me but her playing solitaire there has more sexual tension than Charles Foster Kane watching his wife piece together a jigsaw puzzle as a trope for their marital tension in CITIZEN KANE.
